I love it guys!!! Just fantastic! Couldn’t stop ‘grooving’ all night. I can’t wait to hear what else you have. How did you guys come up with this? I would never have thought to mix Brazilian Samba and Electro together. Keep up the good stuff. Don’t let me down now!
ReplyDeleteLet you down? How could they release anything more disappointing! I’ll tell you how they came up with it dude. They read a book on sambas and pasted it in their recording software. It’s so obvious I feel like I’ve been slapped in the face! Samba is a party music that’s alive with energy and power. It’s not a bunch of software instruments imitating a dodgy samba pattern.
ReplyDeleteSo right man! These aren’t even real musicians. Except for the guitar. Though, that is so badly dubbed over the top that it doesn’t even make sense.
ReplyDeleteCome on guys! I love the guitar. It just adds this whole new dimension to it when it comes in. And the distorted guitar just glides so nicely over the top! I think it gels nicely over the ostinato.
ReplyDeleteI like that distorted guitar. It sits so well against that groove underneath. I dig it man!
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Come on guys, This is the problem with globisation! You don’t even know what is authenic anymore! Software instruments playing a lousy imitation of a samba pattern is not a ‘soundscape’ to Brazil. Their music is so much more and has so much more history to it.
ReplyDeleteAuthentic as apposed to what? A bunch of white dudes from Australia playing it? Give me a break.
ReplyDeleteAt least then it would have a bit more of the feel for it. If you want to rip the culture away from them, you should do the decency of taking everything on board, not just some of it.
ReplyDeleteThey just thought it would be better this way. Anyway, appropriation, as I think you will find it’s called, doesn’t have to be the whole culture. They can just take a bit of it and assimilate it into electronic music. Good for them. At least a piece of Brazil is now saved and brought into the limelight because of it. I say well done.
ReplyDeleteToo bad what’s been saved isn’t Brazil... Money in the band's back pocket more like it. Cashing in on the exploited music.
ReplyDeleteI hear you man!
ReplyDeleteThese guys are just trying to jazz up their music to make it marketable. It doesn’t even keep the ‘Brazilian Jazz’ going in the whole piece. It just cuts out!
ReplyDeleteI noticed that too.
ReplyDeleteI think it’s for people who just want to hear something a little different, enrich their lives with something more that the ordinary music. I’m not trying to swing on one side or the other in this argument, I just wanted to state the fact that some people don’t mind listening to bad Brazilian Jazz when they don’t know any different. It may be bad, but it is different so it naturally attracts the bees.
ReplyDeleteAnd that excuses what they’ve done, does it?
ReplyDeleteI’m just saying some people just want something more exotic and refreshing than electronic music. Not debating it’s stereotypical samba patterns made by software instruments. Just that they provide music for the masses that don’t know about it.
ReplyDeleteI think people should be made aware of this travesty. It’s not good enough that we just let them roll over a wonderful, musical art form.
ReplyDeleteGood luck mate.
